Description:
On the Wadden Sea and in the Central Netherlands region there are several radar installations as part of the VTS Chain of Rijkswaterstaat. The radar installations of the Wadden Sea are used for the Brandaris VTS area Terschelling and the Seaverkeerspost Schiermonnikoog. The images from the Radar installations of Terschelling and Schiermonnikoog are also used by the Coast Guard for performing Search and Rescue (SAR) and enforcement tasks. The radar installations for the Wijk bij Duurstede traffic post are used for traffic guidance from the Amsterdam Rhine Canal. The primary goal of these installations is to guide shipping traffic smoothly and safely over the Wadden Sea and the Zeegaten and the Amsterdam Rhine Canal. In addition, the Coast Guard also uses these radar images for their business operations.
