• Description:
• The “office machine” designed by Hans van Heeswijk on the outskirts of Delft was newly delivered to Rijkswaterstaat in 2003. The 8-storey building consists of two L-shaped wings that meet in the middle in a central atrium. At this moment the building is fully used by Rijkswaterstaat Central Information Supply (RWS CIV). The building is seen by the current user as a valuable office due to its central location, proximity to local partners (including TU Delft) and the area is a location for many employees. Despite the modern appearance of the building, there are several issues that prevent the working environment and supported areas from being used optimally. This is because the building is still is based on old standards, and there are several bottlenecks that hinder its use. In line with the Delft Master Plan, the building will be transformed into a fully-fledged and future-oriented government office.
