Description:
The Hofboogs are located between the current rail route near Rotterdam Central Station and the A20 highway. The former railway viaduct is also a national monument and crosses several densely populated city districts. The Hofboogpark is a new, almost 2 kilometer long public city park6 meters height.
A new function on the roof of the monumental viaduct is an important next step in the development of the Hofbogen. With its function as a city park, the monument takes on a new and valuable meaning for the city. The Hofboogpark is used to green the areathere are petrified city districts of North Rotterdam. Metropolitan densification and transformation will take place along the Hofbogen.
The Hofboogpark will play an important role in giving the city an attractive business climate and in making the city suitable for climate change; the woeagainst flooding, drought, heat stress and increasing biodiversity.
To achieve this, a number of activities need to be carried out, namely:
-Removal of the current roof covering, approximately 12,500 m2.
-Removal and repair of the top concrete layer under the roofe coverage, including repair and treatment of corroded reinforcement where necessary approx. 12,500 m2
- Application of a new water-retaining layer, approx. 14,500 m2.
